Results - Saturday December 8th

Unfortunatelty, the weather claimed the majority of games scheduled for this weekend. However, a few hardy souls braved the conditions and fulfilled their fixtures. The results of the two games played are as follows:-

League Cup

Dewi Stars 2 v 1 Lampeter

J. Emrys Morgan Cup

Cardigan 3 v 1 Llansantffraid


Only a couple of games survived the weather over the weekend with Dewi Stars causing something of an upset as they beat Lampeter in the League Cup Second Round.

Despite the heavy conditions both sides endeavoured to play constructive football and after an even opening the Stars took the lead when an Andrew Jones free kick went in off Dai Morgan.

After the interval Lampeter began to control the game and deservedly snatched an equaliser when Mark Wilkins pounced at the near post with his goal bound effort being deflected into the net off Aled Rees.

It seemed only a matter of time before the visitors grabbed the initiative but the home side had other ideas and after weathering a period of pressure clinched their victory four minutes from the end when Dylan Pugh shot home.

In the J Emrys Morgan Cup Third Round Cardigan registered a good win over a young Llansantffraid side that battled well throughout. It was in fact the visitors that took the lead some nine minutes before half time when after an Ashley Parks shot had been parried by home keeper Steve Smith, Steve Tomkins was on hand to score.

This forced the homesters to increase their tempo and on the stroke of half time they equalised when from a long ball down the middle Gary Lawrence set up Alun Williams to rifle home.

The second half belonged to Cardigan. Two minutes in they grabbed the lead when from a long Seamus Doherty cross Liam Jenkins headed home at the far post before Alun Williams sealed the win with a shot from twenty yards."
